There are a lot of zero cost marketing strategies out there. For small business owners, these can be very attractive. However, with any marketing strategy, only pick those that work with your overall strategy. That includes picking only strategies you’ll stick with.
Obviously, nothing has zero cost, but these strategies below have no monetary cost. You’ll still have to put the time and mental energy into each and every one of them.
Social Media Pages
Social media pages are a great way to gather followers and other people interested in following your business and brand. There are a lot of different strategies for increasing your social media engagement and follower count. You’ll have to pick the strategy that works for your brand. We won’t cover these options in this article.
Social Media Groups
If you’re on social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Reddit, and more that have groups you can be a part of, you should join the ones you can frequently engage in. Find groups where people who need your services will commonly ask questions. If you have the chance to answer questions that showcase your expertise, you’ll get your name out there.
Reviews
When you do good work for a customer, you should ask them for a review. Depending on your line of work, you can ask for these reviews directly, through an email list, or even a sign on your cash register.
Newsletter
A newsletter is a great zero cost marketing opportunity. There are a lot of free services out there like MailChimp that let you build a following for free until you get a certain number of subscribers.
In order for a newsletter to be successful, you need ways to encourage people to sign up and consistent content your followers would want to read.
Free Networking Opportunities
Finally, you should definitely check out some of the free networking opportunities in your area. Networking is a great way increase the exposure for your business. To find a few events, check out Facebook Events, Meetup, Eventbrite, or similar event posting sites. However, I found my highest success just asking people I meet where they recommend I network.
